Esta prueba presencial se evalúa inicialmente sobre 10 para posteriormente aplicar el porcentaje del 70% (es decir, la nota obtenida se multiplica por 0.7).

Es necesario superar la prueba presencial con una nota mínima de 5 puntos sobre 10 para poder sumar el resto de las calificaciones del sistema de evaluación.

Description

The exam consists of the writing of an abstract. The students will be given two texts. They can choose one or use both as references.  They will be asked to develop a possible research on the text(s). They have to justify the choice of the theoretical approach as well and present a research question and objectives. Finally, they have to choose some keywords related to the research.

Qualification and evaluation criteria

1. The research question is clearly stated and all the information in the abstract is related to it.

2. The methodological framework is stated and is appropriate for the purpose of the abstract.

3. The abstract follows the introduction/development/conclusion structure. The different parts of the structure can be easily identified.

4.  The abstract complies with the word count  (300-350 words) and follows the MLA formatting style. Accurate vocabulary, grammar, appropriate register.

5. The keywords are accurate and duly reflect the content of the abstract.

Description

The PEC consists of the writing of an abstract. For those of you who have already decided on your Master’s thesis, this abstract can be that of the Master’s thesis. For those of you who have not made a decision on it as yet, the abstract can be that of a paper written for another course that you have taken in the master's program.

  1. Organization: general structure (introduction/development/conclusion).
  2. Word count.
  3. Keywords.
  4. Introduction of the hypothesis.
  5. Methodological framework.
  6. Analysis and Development.
  7. Appropriate use of MLA Style.
  8. Appropriate grammar and punctuation.
  9. Coherence and cohesion
  10. Style, confidence and independence as an academic writer.
  11. Keywords.

Description

Forum participation.

The course is divided into 4 units. Each one of the units will have a specific forum open. Each unit will propose an activity for the students to participate in the forums. These activities are optional, but students are encouraged to participate.

Each contribution answering the task suggested by the professor will be marked between 2 and 2,5 points according to the quality and the extension of the post (approximately 250 words). To get the mark, the contributions need to be relevant and original.

No hay segunda fecha de entrega de las contribuciones en los foros para la convocatoria extraordinaria de septiembre. La nota de la participación en foros obtenida en la convocatoria de febrero se guarda para la de septiembre. 

How to obtain the final grade?

20% PEC

10% Participation

Students will also be expected to adhere to the assignment deadlines and observe the commonly accepted standards of academic honesty and intellectual integrity. Those resorting to plagiarism or academic fraud will receive a zero grade.

It is necessary to pass the exam with a minimum mark of 5 points so that the PEC mark and the participation in the online forums mark are added. The final mark is the result of the sum of these three marks. The sum of the three marks must be 5 points in order to pass the subject.

Those students who do not turn in the PEC, and do not participate in the discussion will obtain a maximum of  7 points out of 10 as the final grade.
