"Les agradezco a todos los profesores por disponer un modelo educativo exigente y de gran repercusión en la actividad laboral. Un agradecimiento muy especial al Director de mi TFM, el Dr. Esteban Vázquez Cano, por brindarme una asesoría de alta calidad y hacer un seguimiento de todo el proceso de mi trabajo hasta los momentos previos a la defensa. A la Dra. María Jordano, quien gestionó de forma eficaz la asignatura TFM y el que hayamos podido realizar este evento a través de vídeoconferencia. A la Dra. Noa Talaván, por brindarnos un apoyo permanente en las cuestiones del Máster. A la Dra. Ana María García Silva, Coordinadora del Centro UNED de Lima, por la coordinación necesaria para poder seguir nuestros estudios desde la ciudad de Lima. “Comencé el Máster en el mes de Octubre, 2012 y lo finalicé en más de un año con la defensa de mi TFM bajo la dirección de la Dra. Elena Martín-Monje, obteniendo la calificación de Sobresaliente (10). En la vida de toda persona siempre hay tres fases: un antes, un durante y un después. Escribo esto por la siguiente razón: Llevo ejerciendo como profesor de inglés inicialmente en una academia propia y luego como profesor de instituto en la Enseñanza Secundaria Obligatoria y en Bachillerato casi 20 años. Y más que llevaré pues la Enseñanza (en mayúscula) es una de mis grandes pasiones. Prácticamente desde que comencé trabajando como profesor de inglés, la Formación Permanente (Lifelong Learning) ha sido un factor clave en mi vida profesional porque, en mi humilde opinión, creo que la docencia es uno de esos trabajos en los que estar continuamente reciclándonos debería ser una tarea obligatoria y vocacional al mismo tiempo.
Hasta el curso 2012-2013, momento en el que consideré conveniente matricularme del Máster en TIC-ETL. Después de haber hecho una investigación detallada en Internet sobre la oferta existente en torno a Másters relacionados con el ámbito de las TICs y la Educación, me decidí por el Máster en TIC-ETL: una de las mejores decisiones que he realizado en mi vida, sin duda alguna.
En la primera fase, mi intención era simplemente conocer y aprender todas las posibilidades que las TICs me pueden aportar para aplicarlas en el aula de inglés, con mis alumnos de Secundaria y Bachillerato. En la segunda fase disfruté enormemente en diversas materias, tales como “Avances ELAO”, “Web 2.0”, “Second Life”, “Edición de materiales audiovisuales”, y un largo etc., interactuando a través de los Foros de la plataforma ALF e intercambiando ideas, opiniones y experiencias con otros compañeros del Máster y con los profesores del Máster. Apenas podía imaginar lo que posiblemente vendría en la tercera fase, que yo he denominado “Después del Máster”.
Casi acabando el Máster, tuve la oportunidad de redactar reseñas de algunos libros especializados en TICs y Educación. A fechas de hoy, 08.09.2016, ya estoy pensando en la 5ª y 6ª recensión de dos libros de reciente publicación. He podido defender mi TFM en el I Congreso Internacional de Enseñanza del Inglés en Centros Educativos, celebrado en Valencia, mi ciudad natal, en el primer fin de semana de mayo de 2016. A finales de año se publicará mi trabajo final de máster en formato de artículo en las Actas del Congreso. Ya estoy planteándome, con una compañera y amiga a quien aprecio mucho, redactar otro artículo para su posible publicación. También colaboro, revisando textos académicos para RIED (Revista Iberoamericana de Educación a Distancia). En el ámbito de editoriales, estoy en conversaciones con una editorial de inglés para poder impartir Formación en TICs y Enseñanza de Inglés a otros profesores-compañeros. A modo de conclusión, sólo me queda por decir que he encontrado “El Elemento*” en las TICs y la Enseñanza de Idiomas, mis dos grandes pasiones. "I started the master’s degree in October, 2012 and finished in just over a year, defending my thesis under the direction of Dr. Elena Martin-Monje, obtaining an Honours grade (10).
In the life of every person there are always three phases: one before, one during and after. I am writing this for the following reason: I have been working as an English teacher first at an academy and then as a school teacher in Secondary Education and Baccalaureate for almost 20 years. And I will continue in the same field because education is one of my great passions.
Practically, since I started working as an English teacher, Lifelong Learning has been a key factor in my professional life because, in my humble opinion, teaching is one of those jobs, in which continual renewal should be a compulsory and vocational task.
Until 2012-2013, at which time I considered convenient to enrol in the Master in ICT-ETL, after having undertaken detailed exploration of existing master’s degrees related to the field of ICT and education, I decided on the Master in ICT-ETL: undoubtedly one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.
In the first phase, my intention was simply to know and learn all the possibilities of the application of ICTs in the English classroom with my students in secondary and high schools. In the second phase I enormously enjoyed studying various subjects, such as "Advances en ELAO", "Web 2.0", "Second Life", "Editing audiovisual materials", and a long list of other activities, interacting using the forums on the aLF platform and exchanging ideas, opinions and experiences with other fellow students and teachers on the master’s degree. I could hardly imagine what might come in the third phase, which I have called "After the master’s".
After finishing the master’s degree, I had the opportunity to write reviews of some specialised books on ICT and Education. As of today, 09/08/2016, I'm already thinking about the 5th and 6th recension of two recently published books. I could defend my TFM at the I Congreso Internacional de Enseñanza del Inglés en Centros Educativos, held in Valencia, my hometown, on the first weekend of May 2016. At the end of the year my master’s thesis will be published in article format in the Proceedings of the Congress. I'm already planning to write another article for publication with a colleague and friend who I value a lot. I also collaborate in reviewing academic texts for RIED (Latin American Journal of Distance Education).
In the field of publishing, I am currently in contact with a publishing company of English books to be able to undertake English ICT Training and Teaching to fellow teachers.
To conclude, I only have to say that I have found "My Element*", ICT and Language Teaching, my two great passions. And all that thanks to and for the benefit of my students!!! "(Salvador Montaner, 2012-2015)
