Displaying MIME type images for items

MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension) types are used by HTTP servers to describe the type of content being delivered.

You can display MIME type images next to the items on a page to let users know what type of information the item provides. For example, the Word MIME type image () would display next to any Microsoft Word documents uploaded to the page.

To display MIME type images for items, you must have at least one of the following privileges:

To display MIME type images for items:

  1. Go to the page with which you want to work.

  2. Switch to Edit mode.

  3. Click in the region that contains the items for which you want to display the MIME type images.

  4. Click the Attributes/Style tab.

  5. In the Available Attributes list, select Mime Type Image and click moveright.gif.

    The attribute is added to the bottom of the Displayed Attributes list.

  6. It is recommended that you display the MIME type image before any other attribute, so select Mime Type Image and click movetop.gif to move it to the top of the Displayed Attributes list.

  7. Click Apply to save your changes.

    Note: You must click Apply, or your changes will not be saved.

  8. Click Close to return to the page.
